- Launching Event of JFEMA
Under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Sharief Al-Zoubi , the Jordan Furniture Exporters and Manufacturers Association (JFEMA) was officially launched this week in a well-managed event that included presentations about the industry.
JFEMA was launched as a non-profit organization on this past Monday with solid vision and mission as well as a clear set of objectives and a "Workmanship and technology to impress the world" impressive slogan that highlights to the whole world the main strengths of our furniture industry in Jordan.
It was noted that there was a large number of interested audience and participants in the launching event of JEFEMA, including representatives from the Jordanian government, international donors, non-governmental organizations and diplomatic missions in Amman as well as from the private sector including the manufacturers and exporters of furniture in Jordan.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors for JFEMA Mr. Hamdi Abu Al-Thahab said, "JFEMA was established to help our national furniture industry in accordance with the wise vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and with the full support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as the Jordanian - United States Business Partnership Program".
The acting Chief Executive Officer of the Jordanian - United States Business Partnership Program Mr. Naief Stetieh said, "With the solid management JFEMA and their professional plan as well as the active participation of the largest possible number of manufacturers and exporters of furniture in Jordan, JFEMA shall aggressively and constantly participate in developing this important sector that would positively effect and directly benefit the national economy of our great country".
The Chief Executive Officer for JFEMA Mr. Nidal Melhem said, "We shall well represent the interests of this important sector of as well as promote the Jordanian furniture manufacturers and exporters locally, regionally and internationally"
The impressive development of the furniture industry in Jordan in the past fifty years has resulted in introducing new lines of good quality furniture products into the local and foreign markets including residential, hotels and kitchens as well as office, medical and education furniture. Today there are between three to four thousand furniture manufacturers from all sizes in Jordan that are directly employing thousand of Jordanians including a large number of highly skilled craftsmen that are regionally recognized for their superior work. In 2004, Jordan exported furniture to more than fifty countries mainly in the Arab Gulf, Europe and US.
